摘要:

Human learning & memory and their applications in advanced learning environments (ALE) have been among the most active research areas in cognitive psychology (CP) and artificial intelligence (AI). This talk will report some of the research, development, and applications in these areas of CP & AI in the Institute for Intelligent Systems (IIS). First, I will introduce the AF (AutoTutor Framework), a flagship ALE developed by the team at IIS. This framework includes three key components: ACE (AutoTutor Conversation Engine), ASAT (AutoTutor Script Authoring Tools), SKO (Sharable Knowledge Objects). All three components organized together becomes AAPI (AutoTutor Application Program Interface). Second, I will briefly talk about relevant Learning Principles in CP that are relevant to ALEThird, we will present some of the enabling technologies that have been developed for AF. Among the enabling technologies are GIFT (Generalized Intelligent Framework for Tutoring), Coh-Metrix (http://cohmetrix.com/), SRA (semantic representation analysis), and Animated Conversational Agents. At the end of the talk, If time permits, I will present a couple example applications of AF and brief demonstration of AAPI.
